< a tent for planes > mit dominik hennecke
the hangar offers a home to six jet planes up to the Boeing 747-800-class and provides facilities and mobile tool-kits for their maintenance, as well as e.g. socialrooms for the employees.
It consists of a membrane-construction torn over twelve 20m-pylons, closed by a pneumatic facadesystem that is able to compensate the tent‘s movement.
An additional illumination of the interior is obtained by transparent airbags, filling the ‚eyes‘ of the membrane, which themselves take care for an optimized load transfer to the pylons.
To shut the six hugh gates, inflatable airbag-constructions, too, just need to blow them up.
